World Summit Youth Award finalists and category
winners are selected by members of the WSYA Jury. Comprised
of 15 global experts in youth engagement, new media and social entrepreneurship,
their creative minds bring diversity of perspectives and know-how
to the WSYA. Jurors will evaluate project entries in a
rigorous two-stage process over a month period.
In the first “elimination” round of judging (September
18 – October 3, 2005), projects in all three categories will
be evaluated by three pools of jury members in order to obtain a
short list of ten projects per category. In the second round (October
3 – 18, 2005), a winner and two finalists will be selected
from each category. In this round, all jurors will have a chance
to judge short-listed projects to ensure objectivity and thoroughness.
From the numerous online platforms submitted during the application
period, jurors independently review each site and rate them
based on their content, design, innovation/creativity, interactivity
and sustainability. Each project is evaluated by a minimum
of two jurors and votes are tabulated online to ensure fairness
and accuracy.
Winners and runners-up will be notified in October and they will
be given the opportunity to present their projects in Tunisia for
the UN World Summit on the Information Society, both at the World
Summit Award Gala Event and the “Future is Now: A Best-Practice
Youth Showcase” Workshop.
