2nd round of evaluation closed

We are looking forward to announce the winners of 2010 as soon as possible!

2nd Round of Evaluation

The WSYA Jury Members have evaluated 142 projects and decided for 60 to move up into the second round.
The second jury round is in progress and will continue throughout the week (14^th- 20^th July 2010). During this week the jury will select the three best projects of each category which then will be invited to join our Winners Events in New York City in Septermber 2010.

1st Round of Evaluation!

18 WSYA jury members from around the world and various areas of expertise will gather this month to judge and evaluate the contestants' projects.

The first jury round is in progress as of this morning and will continue throughout the week (5^th-12^th July 2010). During this week the jury will select the ten best projects of each category which then will be going through into the second round.

The second round of evaluation will take place 14th-20th July and the winners of this year's contest will be determined and notified by the end of July 2010.

WSA goes mobile

New times bring new challenges. It is a well known fact that today, in terms of access, mobile usage has outgrown Internet usage by threefold with more than 4.4 billion connections registered around the world to date. Mobile phones are becoming smarter, while touch screens are revolutionizing what can be done with them. They are undoubtedly becoming more intimate and most used by all age groups across their life span. We can do more and more in using mobile phones with many essential tasks becoming unthinkable without them. We have simply entered the age of mobile applications and mobile content.

The World Summit Award’s response to this rapid development is the WSA Mobile – a new award launched in June 2010 with support of the Abu Dhabi Systems & Information Centre (ADSIC), and decided explicitly to selecting and promoting the world’s best in mobile content. The contest is planned to be held every two years, with the first Winners’ Gala to be held in Abu Dhabi in December 2010 in cooperation and along with the UN DESA GAID Global Form.

With great support of Abu-Dhabi as the main partner and its global network, the World Summit Award will use its 10 years experience and expertise to answer the main question: “What is really out there in the mobile world, which today might still be inside of a few creative minds, but can become our every day life tomorrow?”

Same as the WSA e-Content, the national selection for the WSA Mobile run through national experts in respective countries. Deadline for nominations is August 20, 2010.

WSYA JURY

From July 5th – 20th the international jury will evaluate all entered projects of WSYA 2010! In this year’s edition over 600 projects from more than 100 countries were submitted by young journalists, e-content-developers and designers for the contest. The best projects in e-content and creativity will be selected after two rounds of online judging. On July 20th the finalists and winners of the WSYA 2010 will be announced to the public and media. We are looking forward to another exciting evaluation and judging process!

New Registration Deadline

WSYA is extending the registration deadline for another week.

Open WSYA-Contest 2010

WSYA invites once again young designers, e-content creators, writers and bloggers from around the world to enter their online-projects in an international multimedia competition: using internet and mobiles to put the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) into Action!
GET ACTION ON MDGs! The WSYA selects and promotes best practice in e-Content and technological creativity, demonstrates young people’s potential to create outstanding digital contents and serves as a platform for people from all UN member states to work together in the efforts to reduce poverty and hunger, and to tackle illhealth, gender inequality, lack of education, lack of access to clean water and environmental degradation.

Girls 20 Summit

There are 3.3 billion girls and women in the world - and they should be integral to, and included in the development of innovative, sustainable and socially responsible solutions to the world's economic and social challenges.

WSYA Winners 2009

From online music and TV communities to interactive gaming platforms to e-learning applications and HIV/AIDS resources, the World Summit Youth Award (WSYA) presents young people who use Internet and Mobiles to get Action on United Nations Millennium Devlopment goals.
